Background

The Susquehannah nuclear power station consists of two boiling water reactors. Construction began on Units 1 & 2 in 1973 with licensed operations commencing in 1983 and 1985 respectively.

In 2009, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission granted Susquehannah a twenty-year license renewal for both units 1 & 2. Their licensed operational life extends to 2042 and 2044 respectively.

The Susquehannah nuclear power plant is located within Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. As of 2016, socioeconomic information is as follows:
