Lawmakers should debate future of nuclear energy in Pennsylvania
A group of Pennsylvania legislators is calling for action to prevent the planned closure of two nuclear power plants – Three Mile Island in Dauphin County and Beaver Valley, northwest of Pittsburgh. Three Mile Island’s owner, Exelon Corp., has stated that TMI will close in September 2019 unless it receives assistance from Pennsylvania to mitigate high operating costs.
