Vogtle Unit 3 generates electricity and connects to the gridGeorgia Power said the generator at its Vogtle Unit 3 nuclear facility generated electricity for the first time on April 1, and the unit successfully synchronized and connected to the electric grid. At Vogtle Unit 4, nuclear operators began hot functional testing in March.

Senate votes to lift nuclear construction ban The Illinois Senate approved a measure on Thursday that would lift a 1980s-era moratorium on nuclear power plant construction. Senate Bill 76, sponsored by Sen. Sue Rezin, R-Morris, was approved on a 39-13 vote. The bill now goes to the House of Representatives for consideration.
Browns Ferry nuclear reactor back in service with a new main generator
Browns Ferry nuclear reactor back in service with a new main generator TVA’s Browns Ferry Unit 2 successfully synced to the grid in late March following a scheduled refueling and maintenance outage. The unit is prepped for a two-year cycle of operation. Upgrades made during the outage included replacing Unit 2’s main generator.
