Background
Facility construction began in 1964. Unit 1 was a pressurized water reactor that operated from 1968 to 1992. It has since been dismantled. Units 2 and 3 were commissioned in 1983 and 1984 respectively and were shut down in 2012 due to premature wear within the steam generators. In 2013, the plant owners announced the permanent retirement of both units.
Decommissioning
In 2016, plant owners announced it had selected a joint venture of AECOM and Energy Solutions as the plant’s decommissioning general contractor.
